Today, on National Whistleblower Day, we invite the Get SAFE community to join us in recognising the people who speak up when silence would be safer.
Whistleblowers expose wrongdoing, protect the public and reveal failures that institutions may prefer to keep hidden. Yet too often, they carry the personal, professional and financial cost of telling the truth.
Transparency depends on more than courageous individuals. It requires systems that listen, investigate fairly and protect those who raise legitimate concerns.
Today, we honour the whistleblowers who have paid a heavy price, support those still fighting to be heard, and reaffirm a simple principle:
Those who expose wrongdoing should be protected, not punished.
When one of our Get SAFE clients said, "AI makes lawyers of us all," they weren't claiming AI replaces solicitors. They were describing something they had just experienced.
For the first time, they could read legal documents, challenge assumptions, understand terminology, and ask informed questions before paying for professional help.
That's the real transformation. AI is not replacing expertise. It is distributing capability.
The FCA is asking firms to write more clearly.
The Academy of Life Planning is helping people understand whatever firms choose to write.
This week the FCA revealed that only 6% of investment disclosure documents it reviewed were written in plain English. Every document assessed fell below the level expected to be understood by someone studying for GCSEs.
That's an important finding.
Clearer communication from firms is long overdue.
