This Wasn’t Just a Bad Adviser. It Was a Bad System.

This wasn’t just a bad adviser. It was a bad system.
The FCA has upheld a £2.2m fine and ban against Darren Reynolds for dishonest pension transfer advice that harmed over 470 people.
Yes—his behaviour was appalling. But the deeper truth is this:
A system that:
Detects harm only after mass damage
Rewards conflicted advice
Lets evidence destruction go unnoticed
Caps victim compensation
Allows perpetrators to hide assets
Acts years too late
…is not fit for purpose.
This case didn’t just expose one man. It exposed a structurally untrustworthy framework.
At Get SAFE, we exist because punishment after the fact is not protection. Victims deserve early warning systems, real accountability, and full recovery.
Until we fix the structure—not just ban individuals—this will keep happening.
